Musically Speaking – May 2018

Published by BP on

I can hardly believe that May has arrived, and the fifth month of 2018 is here.

The Charles Wesley Choir, The Sarah Allen Handbell Choir, The Junior Handbell Choir, and The Youth Praise Group will all be presenting musical selections during the month of May. Mother’s Day and Graduate Sunday will be observed.

The Sarah Allen Handbell Choir is preparing Michael Helman’s “Walk With the Lord” which is a medley of the hymns “Take Time To Be Holy” and “O Master Let Me Walk With Thee.” The Charles Wesley Choir is preparing Camp Kirkland’s festal arrangement of the William Runyan classic hymn “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.” Special thanks to Lori Altman and her leadership of the Youth Praise Group which is learning four new pieces. May will truly be a musical month.

I am so grateful for the gift of music and its place in worship. I have a poster in the Choir Room that expresses my feelings so well. The text is:

“Music speaks what cannot be expressed,
Soothes the mind and gives it rest,
Heals the heart and makes it whole,
Flows from Heaven to the soul.”

Thank you, Lord, for the gift of music!

Robin
