Musical Notes – October 2015

Music Notes from Robin:

The month of October has arrived, and I want to thank the musicians for their hard work during September! On a personal note, it was a treat for me, and I hope for the congregation, to have Alex Elliott as our guest soloist on September 13. I have known Alex since he was a little boy, and I have been privileged to watch him grow into not only a phenomenal singer, but also a fine young man as well. On September 20, one week after he sang for Main Street, Alex was married in a small family ceremony in Bryson City, North Carolina. I hope to have him back during December to sing for our church.

The Charles Wesley Choir will resume Wednesday rehearsals on October 7 at 7:00 p.m., at which time we will begin rehearsing new anthems. All choir members are encouraged to be present for this rehearsal. Our Christmas cantata, Joseph Mar-tin’s new work “Let There Be Christmas”, will be presented on Sunday, December 20.

The Sarah Allen Handbell Choir will also resume rehearsals on Wednesday, October 7, at 6:30 p.m. I also have new music for this choir, and I will have copies available on Sunday, September 27, if any member would like to have the music before the first rehearsal.

The Junior Handbell Choir will begin to rehearse at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7. They will hopefully play at a morning worship service in late October or early November, as well as during December.

Main Street’s All Saints’ Service is actually on All Saints’ Day this year—Sunday, November 1; and I have planned some exceptionally beautiful music for this service. Please mark these dates on your calendar and plan to be a part of this celebration.

Sunday, November 1, is the day that Daylight Savings Time ends, and church members will get an extra hour that morning. Hooray!!

As always, thank you for allowing me to serve our wonderful church.

Godspeed!

Robin
