Musical Notes from Robin – September 2019

Music Notes from Robin:

September has arrived, and the new school year has begun. I especially enjoy the final four months of the year, as this time period includes Thanksgiving, the Season of Advent, and Christmas. Main Street will be a busy place, and the musicians will be preparing for special events as well as the worship services.

The Junior Handbell Choir will begin rehearsals on Wednesday, September 4. Rehearsals will be from 5:45 p.m. — 6:00 p.m.

The Sara Allen Handbell Choir and The Charles Wesley Choir will be resuming weekly rehearsals on Wednesday, October 2. Handbells will rehearse from 6:30 p.m.—7:00 p.m., and the Choir will rehearse from 7:00 p.m.—8:00 p.m.

Several new anthems will be presented in September by The Charles Wesley Choir; and the newly-formed Youth Praise Team, initiated by Doug Newton and featuring Emma Altman, Jacob Altman, Trace Berry, Ian Bethea, and Charlotte Sellers, will be featured at the Morning Worship Service on Sunday, September 29.

Please mark your calendars now for the annual All Saints Service on Sunday, November 3, and the annual Christmas Service of Lessons and Carols on Sunday evening, December 15. A new work by Joseph M. Martin entitled And There Was Light will be the featured work at the Lessons and Carols Service.

As always, I appreciate the dedication of the musicians and the support of the congregation for the music ministry. I would like to encourage and to invite any interested people to please come and join. If you are not able to sing each Sunday, please consider singing with the choir for the Christmas Cantata. If you have any questions or want more information, please contact me. Hopefully some cooler weather and fun times are in the near future.

See you soon.
Robin
