Musical Notes from Robin – July 2020

Music Notes from Robin

           July has arrived, and it is bringing hot weather and humidity.  Summers in the south are always a challenge.  I am so thankful for “air conditioning”.  I hope that each and everyone of you is doing as well as possible during this eventful year.  2020 has certainly been a year that will be remembered.

It has been wonderful to have some of our church family in the pews and others worshipping online and by television.  Hopefully the services have been uplifting and a beacon of light during a very dark time.  The church has never been more needed than today.  “God is our refuge and strength!”

As guidelines and policies are established, it is my deepest desire to have our choirs, other groups, and our church family together as soon as possible.  I know that a celebration of joy will be experienced when we—the people of the church—are together in the House of the Lord once again.  Please watch your bulletins and notifications for any updates.

I would like to close with the words to a hymn written in 1782 by John Fawcett.  I believe these words are as vital today as they were 238 years ago:

“Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love;
the fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above.

Before our Father’s throne, we pour our ardent prayers;
our fears, our hopes, our aims are one, our comforts and our cares.

We share each other’s woes, our mutual burdens bear;
And often for each other flows the sympathizing tear.

Then we asunder part, it gives us inward pain;
But we shall still be joined in heart, and hope to meet again.”

We will be together again soon.

          Love,

Robin
