Musical Notes from Robin – August 2019

Published by BP on

August, the eighth month of 2019, is here. The second month of the third quarter of the year promises to be a warm, busy time—with school years resuming and summer vacation ending. I am looking forward to the Fall, hopefully cooler temperatures, and the beginning of preparations for All Saints, Thanksgiving, Advent, and Christmas.

Thank you for your support this summer, especially for your prayers and for those who covered for me while Shaw and I participated in the Masterworks Choir’s 40th Anniversary European Tour June 14-23. This trip was phenomenal! Shaw and I sang in five concerts in three countries—Hungary, Austria, and The Czech Republic—visiting the cities of Budapest, Vienna, Salzburg, and Prague. Highlights for the Thompson brothers were attending a performance of Puccini’s Tosca at the Vienna State Opera and seeing The Sound of Music locations in Salzburg. At the Joy Club Luncheon on Tuesday, September 10, Shaw and I will present a program which will describe the trip with pictures and samples of performance recordings.

Please watch your bulletins and especially the September newsletter for details about rehearsal schedules for The Charles Wesley Choir, The Sarah Allen Handbell Choir, and The Junior Handbell Choir. Enjoy this final month of the summer.

As always, thank you for the privilege of serving our wonderful church.

Keep cool!
Robin

P.S. The Joy Club will resume monthly luncheon meetings on Tuesday, September 10, at 12 noon in the Fellowship Hall.
