Worshipfully Speaking – March 2015
Quo vadis? – “Where are you going?” – is the importunate question for Lent.
The baptismal waters are long dry upon our heads—replaced with an ashen smear reminding us once again—that, having left the font of renewing waters, we have begun a journey of following Christ into the wilderness…trusting in God’s gracious promise to be with us the whole way—temptation by temptation—day by day—step by step—to that hill far away at the Holy City of Christ’s death and resurrection.
Each of our gatherings—Prayer and Praise, Sunday School, Worship, Bible Study, even meetings!—are occasions to hear again and ponder….events in which human beings have been blessed by the knowing, forgiving, saving grace of God. We gather in Lenten solemnity of penitence and depart in the freeing joy of pardon—and peace.
