Worshipfully Speaking – April 2015

APRIL, WORSHIPFULLY SPEAKING
Getting a Life and Lightening Up!

Easter comes from an old Anglo-Saxon word, eastre, which means “Spring. It is akin to another olde worde —indeed, fulfills it! – lencten, meaning “lengthening of days”, from which our liturgical season name Lent derives. The increasing light outside and the weather’s release of warmth and blossoms encourage rays of hope, relief, joy, and health in the coming days. So our worship—inside—reflects Spring’s transitions from darkness to light, sobriety to joy, and the death of sin to a grace-full rebirth in Jesus the Lord, who is risen, risen indeed!
